The following two companies and websites collect and sell information about businesses, primarily for mailing list purposes. Their websites allow you to selects businesses according to location (ZIP, area code, MSA, etc.), type of business, company name, corporate/site information, and size of business (number of employees or by annual sales). You can generate, view and print lists of company names.

These can be useful starting places, but they charge a fee for mailing lists and phone numbers. Also, the information might be outdated and incomplete because it is difficult to track business activity. In other words, businesses open, close, and relocate without notifying the companies that provide the data.
